The core group visited Mt. Vernon High School, Ben Davis Preschool, and Ben Davis University High School to see renovation projects similar to what could be incorporated at South Knox.

Puzzle Pieces

The core group divided into two groups around tables.  Each group was given black foam core board and a packet of “puzzle pieces”.  The “puzzle pieces” were components of the elementary school and middle/high school based on the space needs program that Schmidt Associates had developed based on the student enrollment and current program offerings.  Each groups was then asked to organize the components in a way that best demonstrates how the facility should ideally be organized.  The core group explored the different ways the spaces in both the Elementary School and Middle High School can be arranged.  Based on this input, adjacencies and design options for future work were explored.

Middle / High School Faculty and Staff Input Meeting

The staff for both the Elementary School and Middle/High School were asked to give input to how they use their space and what their needs are to better service the students.

Staff worked in small groups (4-8 staff/faculty) to develop a top 5 list of areas of improvement or concerns with the facility.  Any item with a “+” indicates multiple groups indicating a similar comment and are listed first.  Other items are organized in no particular order.
